Hi,

I am planning to upgrade my motherboard (I am still checking all my options). I will not be uprading to Sandy Bridge (no comments on LGA 1155)...I will move to LGA 2011, when it comes out. But till then,

I am debating between these two motherboards

ECS P55H-AK or EVGA P55 FTW 200

And will I be able to run two videocards in x16/x16 mode. The spec say x16/x8/x8 (but that is for tri-setup)...I only have dual setup.

ECS has bonus USB 3.0/SATA 6 (which I doubt I will use till LGA 2011 comes out)...but it gives me some extra room for growth.

Both of these motherboards are under 300 which is my budget - but I can not move to ASUS supercomputer motherboards - due to limitations caused by motherboard to my CPU cooler Noctua DH-14 (No, I am not changing coolers, I bought this one, I need to get some more life out of it).

Unless someone has Maximus III Extreme or Gigabyte P55A-UD7 motherboards for sale..let me know.

Thanks,

sarien

The ECS does have more features, on paper. It looks like that particular board has some quirks with the BIOS...read the Guru3D review for more info. Still, I think it would work well and it's a solid board.

The EVGA is a bit more plain, but with domestic customer support and the backing of the EVGA brand you really can't go wrong with it either.

Just when I went to buy the ECS motherboard today on newegg....it is already deactivated or sold out. Sigh....I wonder if my thread helped someone

I guess I have to go research more on the EVGA one
