I got mine on 2x and my AA is 4x.

Should i make it 16x and will it affect my performance?

I made it 16x with my current setup, but I play window mode at 1280x720 and I don't get a really big hit, maybe like 8-12 fps from 0x

It is useful for being able to see the enemies long range.

I don't get even 1 FPS drop by going from 0 to 16.. no clue why and how it works.

it makes distant textures sharper instead of blurred like they would be under trilinear of bilinear texture filtering. any modern card with 512mb+ VRam should have minimal performance hit if any depending on screen res.
