Whats happening here, BIOS, CPU-Z dont match

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Hi,

So i am new to overclocking, but feel ive done it corectly from within the BIOS see below;

but in both CPU-Z and Easy Tunner i get these readings which seem to show no overclock being done with CPU set to below stock (2.9Ghz) CPU-Z ficks between that and the correct overclock values with multiplyer set to x11 and FSB at 319

See below;

Any ideas why this happens?

Don't have much experience with 775's but that sure sounds like speedstep/EIST to me.(power savings features, cuts the multiplier when not at full load)

^This, try running P95 and then check CPU-Z.

Think you may be right, is this ok then, i've put the cpu under 100% load and its running at 3.5Ghz now, Don't really know what to do from here, should this setting to kill speed when not being used be kept on?

CPU running at 3.5GHz now, wonder if i can push it any further

What do you think of my temps, under load? was going to try install push/pull system to try get them down a little

Most people turn it off. Depending on system it could cause stability problems. I'm running 3.8 with it on without any trouble but that is with newer tech (i7). Better to start out with it off.

Used orthos to test
When you are overclocking you should always turn off all power saving features. How long did you stress test your overclock?

Good, this should be long enough to find any instability.

ok managed to overclock a little more, now running at 3.68hz

Push/Pull idea didn't go well, turns out my board doesnt have a connector for another fan so that's that idea binned, suppose its what i get for getting a cheap board.

At least I managed to get my cables tidied up a little.

Might get a water cooling kit.

FSB - 351
Multiplier - 10.5
Vcore - 1.360
