Nope, 6850 is right there with the 5850. 5850 is better in the majority of cases, but not by much.

Take a look at this.

HIs WEI is low. Single 5770 gets a 7.4 on Windows 7 WEI.

Not even close.
The 6850 has a lot more shaders, more up-to-date connectivity (Displayport 1.2 and HDMI 1.4a), 256-bit memory bus, UVD 3.0, and performs a lot better than the 5770.

EDIT: If you mean it was meant to take the place of the 5770 in AMD's lineup, then you are correct.

Do you think before you speak ? 5770 is nothing like a 6950 let me assure iv owned both and the 6950 is more like 2 x 5770s .. I had an msi 5770 at 1Ghz it was nothing to brag about , couldnt even play games maxed out .

6950 is the new 5850 .
6970 is the new 5870 .

the 68XX are a remake of the 57XX series , 5770's are cheap they are nothing like a $400 6950

cant believe you would say something like that .

Crossfired 5770's are a bit quicker or slower than a 5870, depending on the game.

I'm confused why you think you need to upgrade your graphics card in order to play WoW. I'm pretty sure the lag you experience in busy areas has nothing to do with your graphics card not being powerful enough.

I'd recommend a 6950 if you choose to upgrade for other reasons other than to play WoW, but again you need to upgrade your PSU.

Any GPU option you decide to go with whether it be a new 6XXX or another 5770 you're going to need to upgrade your PSU. All this for WoW..wow.

I assume your motherboard has 2 PCI x16 slots? That's one item you didn't mention in your system. Go to your User CP and fill out your system info.

You are wrong too , 6950 beats 5850 in all apps . I know cos i just upgraded from a 5850 to a 6950 and then flashed it to a 6970 and the difference was huge . Dont say things just for the heck of it if you dont really know . you dont even own either of those cards to say that ?

Didn't see where anyone was claiming your 6950 didn't rock but your over defensiveness made me chuckle.

HD6950 is faster than HD5850 and there is no denying. however, if you overclock HD5850 then it actually matches HD5870 the difference becomes smaller. Then, HD5850 costs around $180 after mail in rebate, HD6950 costs $300. I like having SLI or crossfire setup, so the total cost would be $360 vs $600. Is it worth it?

p.s. I know you are in Australia.
