Question about upload speeds

Thread Starter
I have a question about upload speeds,
At the moment i have a download speed of 10 megabytes/s and an upload speed of 650 kilobytes/s

if i had my upload speed upgraded to 7 megabytes/s would i see a change in day to day browsing? Does my upload speed really make a difference, what would i see a difference in?

Thanks, Crazymonkey

You would see a difference if you plan on hosting anything/uploading files.

Only if you plan on doing some serious file-sharing. Otherwise, you wouldn't see a difference. Your upload simply requests a file, then you download the file. It may help slightly with gaming, but I doubt it would even be noticable.

Typically business internet has more upload. here at the office we get anywhere from 10U/10D to 15U/15D and they are usually right on with each other.

Upload speeds only matter to servers and databases which in this case you are not. You should only upgrade your upload if you fall into the server and database category.

No need to upgrade and just be happy with what you got.

I have a 680 kbp/s upload speed which equals out to like 85kb/s and unless you are doing alot of file hosting it is fine.

You aren't going to notice a thing in day to day browsing.

You'd only be affected if you were running some kind of server or uploading a bunch of videos and pictures to youtube and facebook.
