Help finding a surround sound receiver for ~ $100

I currently have 3 receivers in my TV room, all of which I have given by friends. There's a 40w running the rear speakers, a 50w running the front, and an 80w running a subwoofer. They are then all mixed together with a mix of Y cable splitters in a configuration that I probably couldn't describe if I tried.

In other words, I think it's time to move on to a less ghetto setup. I'm using my XBOX 360 for movies and games at the moment, so all I'd need is 5.1 (unless it's simulated 7.1).

I'm on a bit of a tight budget because of Christmas, so I'd only like to spend around $100. Any help would be appreciated!

$100 on what? Speakers and receiver? Or speaker only?

I'd honestly suggest you save to about $200 and then do your shopping. A receiver I quite like is the Pioneer VSX-520-K. Although it doesn't have MCACC (as more expensive Pioneer receivers have), so that's one downpoint; MCACC is auto calibration which will make your speakers sound as good as they possibly can, where the receiver uses a microphone to set up your speakers to their ideal sound settings so that they sound... well... better.

But yeah, if you want to spend as little as possible and you need it to be a surround receiver, check out some reviews (google it up). The 520-k is one I'd recommend as one that won't break on you, and that will be quite good.

I was just reading about that receiver. It says it has pre-amps for 7.1, would it sound alright if I used one of my old receivers for that?
And has anyone tried height channels? It sounds like it could be pretty cool for games.

Sounds like it could be cool. The Pioneer VSX-520-K supports it, though I'm not sure anything could output it.

... What? Is that the wrong link?
I don't think you can torrent a receiver (though I probably would if it were possible).
