this is a question I myself am experimenting with to figure out as I just got my h50. Right now I have on high speed yate loon on it and its not too bad. I am planning to do push pull though so I imagine my noise is going to go up and I dont have a fan controller.

again if you want total silence while still getting the best temps the noctua fans are going to be prime picking, along with some scythe fans. High speed yate loons are best bang for buck fans.

loons: http://www.petrastechshop.com/12yalod1cafa2.html
notcua: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=p...s_id=12&lng=en

again how important is silence to you? keep in mind the pump on the h70 makes a tiny bit of noise too but that should be quieter than your fans.

Well you can see my current setup. The intent is to use this towards a new PC build with the Intel chips around the corner. And while I don't have to have it completely silent I want to make the H70 as quiet as possible, so the best fans possible for this is what I am looking for.

the noctua fans would be your best fans but they come with a price tag and look fugly imo. If you dont care about that def get them they are great. That being said I just got a h50 and I am starting to regret getting it. somehow the yate loon I took off my true and put on the h50 is louder (guessing its the rad) than it was on the true. Due to this It is making me want to go back to the true and sell the h50 or get the noc fans.

Right now my favorite cooler is the Thermalright Archon. This cooler beats both the D14 and the H70.

these are hard to come by though I have been looking. 14s are easier to find.

IMHO, if you are going to get an H70 for roughtly $120 and change out the fans to the tune of $40, why not simply go with the XSPC RASA 750 RS240 for roughly the same price, if not less?

I started off with an H50 w/push and then changed out for an H70 w/push pull and no matter what fans I used, it was still too noisy for my liking so I went back to the H50. With a ton of experimentation with AR-15 fans S-Flex fans, etc, there was nothing to stop the noise and turbulence generated from the push/pull inside the radiator.

I am considering switching to the RS240 or RS360 setup with lower rpm fans.

And like others have posted, nothing is as quiet as the NH-D14!

Yea I am noticing I dont much like the new noise I am getting from the h50. I might sell it and keep my TRUE but I really like the real estate it gives me in the case and it looks better. Going to lap it and see if I get much better temps.

sorry for rambling but I agree if you are contemplating the h70 get the rasa kit. They are like 150 or less and are a very good startup wc solution. If my h50 wasnt 45 bucks I wouldnt have gotten it tbh.

Well, an introductory water kit as you are describing. Is that particular kit one that gives you better temps than either the Noctua or the H70? Secondly, am I going to want to upgrade that water cooling kit in the near future? I would rather just get something that is going to last a while, gives great temps, fairly quiet, and stick with it.

in benchmarks the NH-D14 platforms the same as H70 but on an open system the NH-D14 pulls cool air in the close case the NH-D14 will pull air from inside the case which is hot and the H70 keep pulling air from outside so the H70 is a little better then the NH-D14.

the h70 cost way more then the NH-D14 but it also smaller and better looking

the NH-D14 is quieter by the way
