Refurbished Thinkpad T510 with FX880

Thread Starter
I'm looking at a T510 refurb on ebay and it says it's got the FX880 chip found in the W510 models.
I've got two questions about it
Firstly, does anyone have any experience with Thinkpad refurbs?
Secondly, does anyone know about T510's with the FX880 graphics chips?
I can't find any mention of them anywhere.
Thanks

Thinkpads are great machines. What is your budget that you are looking to spend? I would consider a refurb (as long as it is done by the factory, not some random company).

I think you can get a better machine for that price. What are you going to be using this for?

AutoCAD and other programs needed for architecture design. It's for university.

The name of the card is the Nvidia Quadro FX 880M.

Depending on what size of CAD designs your doing it may or may not be enough. More then likely it will be enough.

I have no experience with Thinkpad refurbs I am afraid. Great laptops though.

The thing that I am most concerned about is whether there is Thinkpad T510's that come with FX880 chips like the ad says. I just haven't been able to find any mention of such a laptop. Most of the T510's have NVS3100M chips which are much lower in class.
Do you know anything about this maybe?

Sure give me a few minutes I will find techsheets.

EDIT:
Yeah I figured as much. The Thinkpad model T510 did not come with the FX 880m. The T series rarely has any good GPU option.
The model that does come with the Nvidia Quadro FX 880m is the Thinkpad W510, "W" which stands for workstation. This one offers higher end GPU/Quad core CPU options. I should have picked up on it immediately, oh well.

So I recommend speaking with the merchant, sent him a message and ask him what the model number is to be exact. If possible ask for a serial number so you can talk to Lenovo and confirm the model number.

If that is indeed a W510, then it would be a fantastic deal, I am looking at one from Lenovo customized like that one, and it is $1,500.

They also claim the hard drive is 3.5", which it most definitely is not!

Looks like a pretty good deal to me as long as it is a w510. If it is not then get him to give you the product number (which should tell you the model and some configuration info).

I just bought off the lenovo site a brand spankin' new W510 with the 1600x900 screen and the upgraded 4GBs of RAM for 1240 taxes in, Canadian dollars.
The Lenovo site is having a sale right now and if you combine that with a 35 percent off coupon on redflagdeals.com you can get super good prices on laptops over 1500 bucks.
Coupon link is here
I can't believe the deal I just got
Go quick though, deal ends tomorrow!
