Will a GTX 460 Bottleneck a C2D? How good are GTS 450s?

-Will it, mainly the 2GB version.
-I hear the GTS 450 is similar or equal in performance to the GTS 250, is this true?

Go for the GTX460 1GB. You will never use 2GB of vram unless your doing like 25xxX15xx or whatever.

You may get a bottleneck but probably no more than 10% tops. But if your C2D isn't overclocked at all, the maybe more. Then again a GTX460 1GB is a HUGE jump of your GTS250 (which is a 9800GTX+ in disguise)

I used to have an OCed P4 @ 4.0GHz and I was botlenecked by a GTS 250( with HT on)

no GTS 250 has 128 cores and only supports DX10
GTS 450 has 192 cores and support DX11. not to mention it's clocked higher than GTS 250 and use GDDR5.

the notion that GTS 250 = or ~ GTS 450 is completely wrong! i got this a lot.

It's true that architecturally they're very different cards. However, spec-wise, not everything about the 450 is superior to the 250. In terms of performance there's not a lot of separation between the two in dx9/10. Max playable settings are likely to be very close to identical.

AFA as the OP's question about the 460 being bottlenecked by an e7500 processor goes ... yes, occasionally. Obviously, the higher you clock it, and/or the higher you set the graphics quality, the less frequently it will happen.
