busted motherboard or CPU?

****SOLVED****

I have a BIOSTAR TA790GX A3+. Computer randomly decided not to post. Lame. The motherboard indicates a memory error. However, I've tested both sticks in a different rig and they work fine. I'm thinking it's either integrated memory controller (AMD 955) or something at fault with the mobo. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this aside from testing the processor in a different mobo or vice versa? Or perhaps I'm wrong altogether.

Thanks.

SOLVED: Power supply was shorting out on case.

I don't think it's the cpu.maybe you can update the bios and fix it.

I agree, try flashing the bios, and or updating it to the newest version. Also you might try and test the power supply, but I don't think that's the issue. Had you done anything new, changed a settings, installed a new OS? Try it with out your video card. These are the only things I can offer as to what the issue might be. Hope you figure it out.

Can I update the bios if I can't get the computer to post? Tried resetting CMOS, still nothing.

Haven't changed any of hardware configuration, but there were some symptoms leading up to this that I'm not sure are relavant. I did some overclocking about a year ago but haven't messed with voltages or clocks since. After restoring board to defaults, I continued to have overclock-symptom-like crashes (random restarts). Also all of the PCI slots became innoperable a few days before this fiasco.

Maybe someone's just trying to tell me it's time for a new motherboard...
