Another 980x Question.

Thread Starter
Just wanted to ask a question or 2.

Anyway, just purchased my 980x should get here tomorrow or thursday. And I was wondering what vcore people were usually pushing to get around 4.5Ghz?

Its about 1.42 on my 920, but that is with Bclck at ~215 and I was hoping to go around 180Bclck with 25 multiplier on the 980.

Anyway more specifically my question is this.
  1. Average Vcore for 4.5Ghz
  2. Does bumping up the Multi or Bclck require more Vcore?

This will be my first expeirence with an unclocked multi so just wanted some advice.

More voltage might be needed on the northbridge if you push the BCLK very high. Leave it on auto for now, and see how far you can go before you need voltage on the Chip and MB.

It would help massivly if you told us what Motherboard you have.

I'm sorry if this is hijacking the thread, but it might still be relevant to this.

What is the max safe Vcore for Intel's 32nm chips?

I'm wondering about this because I'm getting a 32nm i7 2600k un January, so it could be a good base line for me to follow.

The PSU Guru guy said I should be fine as long as I don't bypass the Furmark restriction.

Ill probably upgarde soon anyway, but I don't run applications where both my CPU and 2GPUs are under load.
