Phenom II X2 Upgrade Questions

Thread Starter
I want to upgrade my Athlon II X2 240 to a Phenom II 5__

I know they are coming out with a new one - 570

I also know that the 560 black edition

1. is a heck of a processor
2. It can break 4Ghz with this (and either of these I choose that shouldnt be a problem)

Question is do I wait for the 570 or go and buy a 560

Also can the 560 be unlocked liked the 555?

Question:
Why go dual core to dual core there really is not that much if any difference it should make? Unlocking is not a guarantee so if you want a quad and expect to get one then actually get a quad.

I know unlocking isn't a guarantee but I use my PC for gaming for more than anything else and the raw speed of dual core interests me. Money is also an issue. But I got asked to join a F@H group with some friends so i might need the quad but I still want to know more about the Phenom II dual cores. Do we have dates for the release of the 570?

There's no point in waiting for it. Get a 555 or 560 and OC. That's all there is to it if you're sticking with a dual core.

Well as a die hard gamer...do you think my games would be ok on a 965? Because I might be able to scrounge some more cash if it would be better

Yes. A 965 has an unlocked multipler thus making it much easier to OC and even at stock it is not any worse than an equal clock speed dual core.

Get the 955 and overclock it, save yourself some money.
It's the 965 with 1 less multiplier. =P

If it's a C3 revision then you're golden. But second this anyway. I've never seen the point in paying for a higher clocked BE unless it's a new/better revision.
