What do you use your laptop for when you already have a desktop? - Page 7

I mostly use my netbook to listen to music in the kitchen, helping to fix other computers (downloading drivers, googling for solutions, etc...), and taking notes.

Sometimes I'll use remote desktop while I'm traveling to access files at home.

Rarely, I'll watch a movie in bed.

I pretty much only use my laptop if I have to work on campus for a group meeting or something, but even then I almost invariably just remote into my desktop for anything other than web browsing since it's so horribly slow. Other than that occasional use, it's just there as a backup in case I need a driver while installing Windows or something like that.

Work, the desktop in my office is a POS so I purchased an ASUS ROG. Lets me get some gaming in on my lunch hour. I do get curious looks from collegues on those days I forget my earphones.

I am also going to start using it in my simpit as it is faster than the Q6600 that I have in there now.

I sold both of my desktops and bought a Qosmio. Best decision yet. It holds Crysis at High settings without a problem and stays only slightly warm. Hottest it's gotten yet is 80*C without any extra cooling pad and it only gets to 68*C with the cooling pad I have.

It's an awesome laptop. It's big though... only downside really... I wanted a desktop equivalent.

Got my wife an i5 Toshiba laptop for Christmas. It's awesome. I can shoo her away when I want to game on my 55" + Z5500s and she'll have something to do. I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 on it not long ago; it can only play it on low settings, but it can play it!

I kind of did the same thing 2 black fridays ago. I bought my wife a laptop so when I wanted to game I would tell her to watch her soaperas on youtube which she loves... But, I use her laptop too for checking this forum, check for online deals or even connect it to my bedrom's tv through hdmi and use it as an htpc when I don't feel like going downstairs to my living room.

Ah I also use the laptop to listen to music when I shower or play cartoons on netflix for my daughter when she doesn't want to let me watch tv.

I only really used my laptop for network testing while onsite at client offices and watching hockey games online during class. I say used because my going-on 6 year-old Compaq laptop finally kicked the bucket the other day.

How convenient that my company just became a Lenovo partner... Time to get a ThinkPad!!

I use it for everything and sell my desktop and then get sad and am trying to build another desktop which I will probably sell again and then repeat this horribly inefficient manner of saving money... XD
