[electronista] Intel says 1000 core chips feasible. - Page 2

300mm is actually the largest right now that I know of, I dont think TSMC or GF are building any foundries for 450mm yet.

Yo Intel, Each of my 5850s has 1440 cores ~.~

(They never explicitly said 1000 core processors in the article)

Exactly!

Well, this idea being more along the lines of a "supercomputer" application, I'm sure it won't be hard to make use of a 1000-core CPU vs. a bunch of dual/quad/hex/etc.-core CPU's. Make them first, then we'll talk.

Perfect what you've already got Intel, you're charging me £800 for a hexa-core...

I'm not made of money!

Not the same thing, but I'm sure you knew that already

Your GPU has 1440 "linear" cores, not nearly as flexible as your central processor.(I would like to see your GPU run an operating system without lagging to hell and back)

Besides, they are a known for central processors so one has to assume they were talking about just that.

Reverse hyperthreading ftw

If they can, then they should, and they should make it available to the consumer market for a reasonable price.
