Frys' Laptop - Choices

Thread Starter
So for Christmas I got an Aspire 5742Z - As I've fried a laptop (overheating, Dell. Refused to refund/repair) and computer (stopped having the cash to upgrade) and I'm a college student.

Regrettably, a Pentium Processor and Integrated Graphics do not a gaming rig make.

I'm looking to exchange it for a higher end machine and have two quick questions:

Any suggestions for what to get? I'd preferably not like to have to put more than $400 in max, as I'm broke from Christmas / New semester.

And, because Fry's has an unclear page and their support is slow as Hell, anyone know if the 15% restocking applies to exchanges on laptops, or just returns?
