eVGA 680i w/ MSI 4350 will not boot 5770

Hello all,

Having some tech issues, new to this forum but hopefully I got in going in the right section, mods please move if it is not.

I have a eVGA 680i (system is below) that I had in an ****ty basic case that didn't look good, with a MSI 4350 video card in it before. Worked well for when I used it but was underpowered for SC2. Girlfreind bought me a new 5770 (link below) but I didn't have the correct power plugs on my 450w. I bought a new Antec EarthWatts 750w and a new Corsair case to put everything in with better cooling.

My 5770 card;

Case

RAM

Currently when I boot the system, I get into my BIOS (shows floppy not available as I don't have one hooked up) and option to hit f1 or del, within 10 seconds of any option or waiting on that screen, the screen blacks out and no longer displays anything, monitor self powers off.

I have gone over all the plugs, tried resetting the CMOS, tried different power connections on the PCI-E incase it was a power supply issue, tried pulling the RAM and reinserting to make sure ok and also booting with only one stick. I have tried PCI-E slot 1, 2 & 3 on this motherboard. Tried disconnecting new case fans on mobo, disconnecting CD drive power, even tried with no SATA drives in place and same problems happen the whole time.

Sometimes I get these codes on the motherboards LCD but they seem to come and go as to if i reboot or cold start;
26
5D

I have not tried;
- Old 4350 card (not at the house I am at right now as I built the system at a different house then where I mainly use it)
- Old PSU w/ Old Card
- VGA cable with 5770 card (only DVI tried at this point in time)

I will be trying those things tomorrow once I grab them from the house but hoping for some ideas to go along with them as well and maybe things I should check on the mobo connections as I go. I did not have a manual for the 680i so I used the online PDF to setup the connections, everything there is by the book. I am also having an issue with getting my RAID 0 array that was there before to show up again, showing no operating system if I push F1 but then will black screen before I can really do anything about it.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much! *sorry for the late night typos & rambling*

Did you properly uninstall all the previous drivers, used Driver Sweeper?

Ok, finally got the old card in and the system works as usual. Never had to do drivers before a new card going in, especially when it is a boot problem before it even hits the windows screen but I will give it a shot, maybe a bad card out of the box

If you are going from a 4xxx to a 5xxx gpu, then you'll need to download and install the latest drivers.

Check this out.

Hi Dark,

I have followed that guide step by step, it will show more windows time (approx 1 minute runtime) before the screen blacks out and I need a reboot to get it back. Anymore ideas?

Thanks

Got a new Flex 5770 today, running stable finally, 53c under load (SC2 w/ Ultra everything, marine area) with no lag, I love it!

Thanks for the help everyone
