HD 6850 Gigabyte windforce overclocking

Thread Starter
Hi all.
I would like to know the reccomended settings for 900-950 Mhz core speeds.

Is memory overclocking useful?

I'm still a noob 15 year old.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

yea ..i know memory will rising to around 1200-1250..you can try first 1150 mhz..of course you need more voltage for 1000mhz gpu and 1200mhz memory

GTA IV usually works fine @ stock, but even at 800 it crashes after 5-10minutes.

All of my other games work okay, but if i want to make sure to be stable how long would i run a stress test program like furmark?

15 min good for stable..but you can go with OCCT to..try both of them 15 min..furmark than OCCT.
maybe you need some voltage ..

and have you got any overclock your cpu?

If I'm not mistaken, the Gigabyte 6850's don't have voltage control so I don't believe you can move them outside of their stock parameters.

Should that be the case, you will only be able to take it as high as the stock voltage allows which I believe is around 840-850 mhz.

From what I have read, no.

I found a few posts on other forums where people were trying to push their GB cards but as high as they would go is 850/1140 because that is all that the stock voltage will allow. frown.gif

Trixx apparently works for upping the voltage - this article was ultimately the rationale behind my purchasing the Gigabyte 6850 over the Asus CU one though I've yet to try out Trixx and thus upping voltage.

As far as Afterburner is concerned, my Gigabyte 6850 has not been able to touch voltage control (and yes I know what I'm doing), but still managed to reach 900/1200 on stock volts. Brilliant card, I'm stoked with how cool and quite it runs!

Your right, its a silent card that stays under 70C even at 30% fan speed.
I'll try 850 / 1150 and see how it goes.

@Calebkan : My cpu is at 4 Ghz
