Product code question...

Frys
LG W2363D-PF
http://www.frys.com/product/6363371?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

New Egg
LG W2363D
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=LG%20W2363D

Frys has a " -PF "
New Egg Doesn't

Frys doesn't show full specs but they look similar ... ?

thoughts?

I'm thinking of picking one up at frys

looks like the front right under the screen looks a tad bit different but there pretty much the same one has to be different in some way the PF is probably a newer model or updated model, or color

When in doubt, check the manufacturer site:

http://www.lg.com/us/computer-produc...-W2363D-PF.jsp

http://www.lg.com/uk/it-products/mon...tor-W2363D.jsp

The response time is better on the -PF as well as the viewing angles.

LG W2363D-PF

after looking at them side to side the pf is a better display 2ms faster response time and 50k more contrast ratio

Thanks for finding and noting the differences....

On the -PF page, they're quoting the GTG (grey to grey) response time hence it being lower. Similarly, the contrast ratio listed is the dynamic one (always try to look for the static/constant one instead) hence a 69,000 difference. Both these numbers are basically made up marketing BS and it's likely both monitors are identical, at least spec wise. The viewing angles are also the same (170 Horizontal/160 Vertical), so I don't know where SimpleTech got that one from.

As ghettogeddy has said, the last 2 letter suffixes on LG monitors usually refer to the bezel/frame colour, i.e. BF = Black Frame, SF = Silver Frame. However, looking up videos and images of the W2363D-PF, it looks no different from the W2363D so I'm not entirely sure what it stands for.

There are a few unboxing videos on Youtube where they say it's the W2363D-PF, however on the actual box, it's labelled as the W2363D - like this one. So you could take that as an indicator where they're both one and the same.

The original question was about comparing the Fry's version w2363d-pf with the newegg version w2363d as noted on respective sites.

Based on LGs specs w2363d and w2363d-pf are different monitors completely...

but

Frys w2363d-pf is showing a slightly different viewing angle compared to newegg w2363d but otherwise response etc are the same. Frys w2363d-pf is actually showing a 170/160 (which is lower than the LG site's specs for w236d-pf) I think this is a typo...

So the question is ... is the Newegg w2363d actually a w2363d-pf? Based on the specs I think it looks like it is... and maybe just marketing as suggested by ghetto and cracker (lol) ...

They're both TN panels so the viewing angles are going to be pretty much the same (if they are indeed different models).

Just buy from whichever store is the cheapest or has the better warranty/return policy.
