do both fans need to be the same in push pull?

basically the topic says it.

got a 30$ newegg gift card and wanted to buy a nf-p12 for the h50 but could I use a high speed yate loon as pull and the p12 as push? Or do I need 2 p12s for it to be efficient? I ask because they are costly

not necessarily, it can be different types of fans, but i believe the more powerful fan must be the push fan with lesser being the pull fan.
it will work fine. im getting some longer screws for my UKs so i have an odd pair of fans on my h50 and it cools it just fine

well the noc would be pushing. I might just get another yate loon since they are cheap but the yate in pull is much louder than it was in push on my true so I dont want to add another fan that wont be quiet. this is why I was thinking of the noc fan.

Noctua's aren't really worth it for radiators. If I were you, I would get a couple of these. Very good fans back in the day, and these are the updated version of those fans, still regarded as one of the best bang for the buck fans out there, although the new version is a tad more expensive than the fan it replaced.

and these have good static pressure? What about the zalmans vs the high yates? I already got one.

They definitely should be the same. There's no point in having mismatching fans...the airflow will only be as good as the weakest fan can push. And i'm sure there would be turbulence problems with mismatching fans, and will probably make your setup a whole lot noisier.

Ultra Kazes are good is you don't care about noise, otherwise, undervolted San Aces or stock GTs. The thicker the fan the better it is when it comes to static pressure.

They don't have to be same RPM but it's good if they are. Also, it's not the push fan that has to be the higher RPM one, it's the pull fan.

What difference does it make what fan is the lower RPM one? It's all going to bottleneck.

NO...They don't have to be exactly the same on a radiator, just get them close if you can.

Fans work like pumps, they are spinning their wheels so to speak against the air so a little mismatch is not going to hurt anything. The fan is capable of 70CFM in open air, yet under restriction it's only pushing 30CFM, If you add another fan in sereies capable of 60CFM and the combined output is still only 40CFM. Each fan could care less if they are matched or not as they are both operating well within their limits. You probably just want to avoid a huge mismatch (150CFM Delta and a 30CFM on very low restriction, etc.)

I've heard some people say otherwise, but I have yet to see any scientific test. Another one of many forum created myths... From what I understand about pumps and fans, this is false.

I have seen several examples of operating similar but different pumps like a D5 + DDC, etc without any problems.

Air is very flexible and compressible...should be no problem mixing fans if they are roughly similar when operating against restriction like a radiator.

+1 on the P12s, they will be a step back in performance on the radiator vs the corsair.

Zalman F3 plus High Speed yates would be close enough I think.
