I hear sli is awesome, what with micro shuttering, and driver issues, which benchmarks are you guys playing these days?
you had to be put on suicide watch a week ago and were about to take a sledgehammer to that amd rig and now you are tripping? lol

btw, what is mirco shuttering? is that some AMD issue when you have more than 1 graphics card?

SB looks really promising as a platform for people who are fit in it's upgrade path. 1366 guys, you can always get a gulftown!

I called you out hokie and got owned? Were not comparing vantage runs. Were comparing cinebench runs. Let me guess. Your cinebench score couldn't hang with sbs so you bust out the vantage run to make yourself look good and feel better? Sad

Btw - Its "Dual" and not Duel as you spelled it and physx enabled? Buhahahah

Ill respond to some other comments as soon as im done heating up some pizza
jean-luc, is there any truth to what your buddy said about the 2600k and cinebench with the on-board gpu? If it's like P55, and you have a P67 and not an H67 then it shouldn't be a factor?

I'm only talking about a cad pc for rendering Autodesk Iventor files. A 920 @4ghz takes around 1hr vs a 980x @ 4.4ghz takes 35min. Thats. $400 vs $1300. If a SB can get the same task done in 40-45min for $580, times 10 people in a drafting deparment, you save a lot of money on pc's and get a lot more done still in a 40hr week.

I have to look at it different. I love the 32nm chips for overclocking and a 4c/8t 32nm unlocked chip for $3xx is pretty sweet.

I have never heard of the IGP enhancing any cinebench runs. As far as i know the IGP is disabled in P67 boards. Unless he can pull up a link showing me where it states that it's bull....

Let me PM Sin and see what he has to say about this.

That's the only interest I have in a PC. I don't play games so SLI and etc. are not applicable in my case. I use Cinema 4D a lot and therefore CPU power is the only feature I look in a PC. So if 2600K can run pretty comfortably at 5Ghz, then it sure is a beast for people like me or CAD people as well. Cinebench score of 9.98 for a $600 setup is pretty sweet vs. i7 950 route, which would cost around the same but score around 7.62.

That's what it's looking like. I render with my 980x for work, but also game in surround with the 3 480's. But the cad department is ready for some upgrades to SB and the 920's will be passed on to sale's and others.

Gotta love intel. They really make some nice chips.

I know how Cinebench works, graphics card has nothing to do with rendering. Although there are rendering engines that can benefit from a graphics card but Cinema 4D's AR3 isn't one of them, therefor IGP will not play a role when it comes to Cinebench.

Now, what's interesting would be to see how the new Advanced Vector Extensions will benefit the 3D rendering engines. Currently Cinebench R11.5 doesn't have such capability to take advantage of AVX. But come 12.5, things maybe different.

Looks like around 4GHz i7 scores don't they? Single threaded benchmark no less

You mean the post were my 1090T on DDR2 was only 30 points below a i7 in Heaven? Or the part were I beat his best because my gear overclocks higher?

Or were you referring to the part were I was 8 fps slower than his score without PhysX running when I had it on max?

Or the part were 1090Ts with DDR3 were beating his scores? That part of it?

I'm confused about which part you're referring to.

The i7 x4's WERE the fastest chips, slightly faster than the AMD x6's in single threaded apps, and in multi threaded apps they traded blows.

This new chip looks to beat the i7 x4 in EVERY aspect from single threaded performance to multi threaded as well and yet you sit there with your i7's that are getting destroyed, both in clock for clock and in max overclock and your rationalize things as an AMD person would.

People are funny.

The best part of all this is the locked chip. With no way to overclock the NB or ram you'll end up paying more than you should have to.

I can't wait to see what BD brings, if it's even close to the same levels at stock and can carry the big overclocks it's going to wreak Intel via NB and RAM overclocks.

Destroyed in what? Benchmarks prove i7s are faster no matter how you rationalize it. Tell you what, get another GTX 470 and lets see you prove how fast it is. You also do realize its six core vs four, I really do hope AMD six core keeps up with Intel's four.

In single threaded apps, Thuban/Deneb per core is at least 15%-25% slower, which is substantial.

Yea... from early benches SB will be at least ~10% faster clock for clock compared to 1366 socket CPUs. I'm happy because I will be waiting for socket 2011.
