In single threaded apps, Thuban/Deneb per core is at least 15%-25% slower, which is substantial.
AMD was not given creative freedom, it took a lawsuit for them to obtain it and now that they have it they're coming out with their first new design since what k8? 2004ish?

I've linked several "benchmarks" where I've beat i7's. Let's not forget this is overclock.net and my 1090T will destroy any i7 in a OEM rig that someone paid $1000's for, and that's the point.

Who is using single threaded apps?

The only people who care about single threaded apps are the people with 4 cores and 8 threads.

You realize these 6 cores cost me $215 vs i7's $300, and that I was able to stay on DDR2 and a previous generations board? Does that compute?

Why would I need a second gtx 470? Please point me to five games that require gtx 470's in sli for max settings.

You wouldn't need another GTX 470 since your whole setup is cheaper than my monitor (low res anyone?).

Single threaded performance is important because it indicates per core performance. Are you that dumb? Higher the per core performance, better it will be when handling multi-threaded apps. Also, you may not realize it but not everyone is a high school student with no disposable income. A dollar to you isn't the same dollar to everyone else. Everyone's utility curve is different (high school econ).

You mean the post were my 1090T on DDR2 was only 30 points below a i7 in Heaven? Or the part were I beat his best because my gear overclocks higher?

Or were you referring to the part were I was 8 fps slower than his score without PhysX running when I had it on max?

Or the part were 1090Ts with DDR3 were beating his scores? That part of it?

I'm confused about which part you're referring to.

this part

The i7 x4's WERE the fastest chips, slightly faster than the AMD x6's in single threaded apps, and in multi threaded apps they traded blows.

This new chip looks to beat the i7 x4 in EVERY aspect from single threaded performance to multi threaded as well and yet you sit there with your i7's that are getting destroyed, both in clock for clock and in max overclock and your rationalize things as an AMD person would.

the 2600k is an i7, so is the 970, 980x, and 990x. I have nothing at all against SB, it looks like a great platform for those who don't have 1366.

People are funny. for real

The best part of all this is the locked chip. With no way to overclock the NB or ram you'll end up paying more than you should have to.

I can't wait to see what BD brings, if it's even close to the same levels at stock and can carry the big overclocks it's going to wreak Intel via NB and RAM overclocks. keep hope alive
people are funny for sure

That is awesome, sig worthy even.

6 ms refresh, 60hz... what 5 inches bigger?

lolz I'll take my 2ms refresh over 5 inches any day.

lolz way to go bro.

Are you slow? Single threaded performance doesn't matter since two core chips have been out for years, almost nothing is single threaded anymore so if benching crysis from 2006 is your thing, you're failing anyways.

It does matter since it indicates how well the whole CPU will do in multi threaded apps. Why do you think i7 970/980x makes PIIs look like Pentium 4s? Yea have fun with your TN panel trash, way to go comparing it with an IPS panel.

If single threaded performance doesn't matter, than why bother posting this?

Now, quit derailing this thread, we're discussing SB & the 950 as the title states.

Go start a thread comparing SB & the 1090T if that is what you desire.

Have fun overpaying for subpar performance I guess?

Does it bother you my cpu is faster in multi threaded apps than yours? Like cinebench for instance?

Does it bother you that for less than the cost of your monitor alone I can play the same games as you at the same fps (60)?

I'd feel bad if I was you, overspending due to improper research is a direct reflection of ones own life status.

Because I was taking a shot at i7 users. My scores were on par with i7's @ 4Ghz with the same gpu clocks in a single threaded benchmark. lol people are funny indeed.

Then why are you on this site? This site is called Overclock.net, not AMDclock.net. And maybe you should pay attention in your HS econ class because your value of a dollar isn't the same as mine.
