That is the most sensible thing that you have said in all your 100 daily posts. You are gaining wisdom as 1155 socket Fanboy King!

Don't include me in this whole defending 1366 deal. I'm just curious to see how they compare. If something is faster, It's faster and that's that. I myself would like to see some clk for clk test's so I can pass it on for the people I build systems for.

Hey Jean, got a vantage score with those 2 570's with SB?

Hey guys, I'm new here but I kind of stumbled on this board google searching something. I see it gets a lot of activity and I've been looking for a good place to discuss tech stuff and intel more specifically. This thread was interesting to me because I was really considering this issue a month ago when I was looking to upgrade my computer from my Phenom II. I didn't have any experience really with Intel and was trying to figure out if I should wait for Sandy Bridge or go with the i7 950 at that time (great deal at microcenter for $199). I ended up going with the i7 950 because all things considered, the 2600K is not going to be leaps and bounds ahead of it from what I had researched. I think the unlocked multi was the biggest pro from my standpoint, but I heard it was just slightly faster clock for clock.

Anyway, I'm really happy with my i7 950. I've got it @ 4.0 GHz really easily and I'm absolutely loving the performance. I'm sure Sandy Bridge will be really nice too and I'm sure it will beat the 950 slightly in benchmarks but I also know this new rig of mine will hold me over for a few years so I'm a happy man. The triple channel memory is something you also have to think about since LGA 1155 is using dual channel. Again, not a huge deal but it's something.

950 is a GREAT chip. People look to me as a SB Fanboi only because i like to "Stir The Pot" with the Bloomfield guys. If SB wasn't even close to being released i'd be rocking an E5620 rig right now.

I can run mine at 4.5ghz instead of 4.2ghz if you want. My 24/7 is 4.44ghz. I was gonna drop it to 4.2 for your comparing but I can run both if you want instead. I have no problems with my 950 at 4.5ghz. Just don't use it there.

I'd love to see a Gulftown at 4.2ghz if you don't mind hamb. In another thread a 4.2Ghz/3ghz nb X6 is a good solid .62 behind the SB score.

I'll run them all. Gulftown with HT on is how I run. You want the test with on or off?
