Hrmm, can anyone confirm whether the Harmony 650 + Antec Fusion Black (imon IR receiver) will work together along with boxee or xbmc??

EDIT: Also, stock cooler should be sufficient right? no need to purchase thermal paste + aftermarket cooler?

If you can find one cheap, get it but don't spend more than $25 on one.

I like aftermarket cooling since you can run the fan at inaudible levels under load. In addition, an aftermarket HSF with a larger fan helps airflow inside the case.
Once again...

Sounds good. Just waiting for a free shipping promo now lol, time will tell.

Would salvaging my old 550W PSU be way too over kill? Kind of looking to lower the budget now that I wanna get a nice case lol

You were complaining about how loud your build was earlier. Just make sure the PSU isn't the one making noise or you're back to your original problem.

lol, sorry to bother you guys, but I asked someone regarding my HTPC build, and they advised that an i3 might be more costly in the front, but savings would occur back in energy savings over a year?!

An Athlon II X2 will use less power than an i3 playing movies: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2921

Idle power difference is less than 10w: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010/01/04/intel-core-i5-661-core-i3-530-cpu-review/8

Let's say a i3 is 10w more efficent for 24/7 for a year.

10W * 24hr * 365days = 87.6kW*hr
1kW*hr costs around $.08 so that would be $7 saved a year.

However, if you use sleep on your HTPC and use it for only 8hrs a day....

10W * 8hr * 365days = 58kW*hr
1kW*hr costs around $.08 so that would be $2.33 saved a year.

i3 is not worth it.

my HTPC with 2 HDD, 1 DVD drive, 1 120mm case fan, a 210e (a 45 w CPU, vs the 65w of the Athlon II), using 785g onboard pulls a max of 80 watts, and that is while booting up. While watching a dvd, 75 watts, HD TV, 65-70 watts, playing a ripped dvd, 60 watts.
This is measured with a kill-a-watt. Even if you added 20 watts for the athlon II (which as a HTPC will not use that much more than my 210e) your still less than 100 watts max.
