SLI 9800GTX+ want to upgrade for eyefinity(surround).

Thread Starter
Hey guys. I have as in Sig 2 EVGA 9800GTX+’s in SLI. I want to upgrade as I am getting a 1920x1200 24†monitor.

I have around $300 to spend. I saw a pair of GTX 285’s for cheap and wondering if my power supply will be powerful enough?
Or maybe I should look at other cards? I was using the Nvidia 3D vision but I'm in the process of selling it off. Now I want to go with eyefinity (only 3 monitors). My current motherboard supports SLI so I want to stay with Nvidia.

I’m not looking to play Crysis at max setting, I just want to run BFBC2, and Black Ops on med or high settings.

I will be running 3 of these.
Thank for the help guys!

Eyefinity is only supported by ATI cards and if you want it that is the way to go. 3D surround is supported by newer NVidia cards so there is a big difference. If you want to stick with NVidia, they dont have Eyefinity, though you can set up multiple monitors or use 3D Vision in surround mode with two cards in SLI for gaming. Also, your PSU has the power for multiple cards so long as you arent running Fermis.

Ya I should have said surround 2D. I didn’t know what it was called so I just compared it to eyefinity. I no longer care about the 3D It was too hard to get used to.
I plan on getting either a set of 285’s or Fermi GTX 460’s.

Do you HAVE to have Windows 7 or will it work with Windows Vista?

Will work with XP and later provided you have SLI setup and have defined the monitors in NVidia control panel.
