Expression Web 4 and wedsite design

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I'm wondering how I can make my website work a little better for the end user.

What I would like to do if possible is.. When clicking on a picture on my website.. (www.johnstokesphotography.co.uk) I'd like to have the pictures open in the same window, and perhaps pop out towards the user, instead of the way they work now opening in another window.

The above would be great but even if I could just have something like a back button on the newly opened window would be better than it is now I think.

I currently use Expression Web 4 to edit my website, and I have frontpage extensions active on the server. The thing is I don't know how to go about doing this as the site was origianly built from a template in Frontpage and the design has remained the same since really.

Would this be an easy'ish thing to do and if so how would I go about doing it please? Do bear in mind that I'm in no way a trained web designer.

Many Thanks

I don't know how to accomplish this in Expression Web, but I think the technique you are looking for is called Lightboxing. Maybe a search for Expression Web + Lightbox might steer you on the right path.

You could do it fairly easy with javascript.

something like this is what I am guessing you want
http://www.dfc-e.com/metiers/multime...ery-fancyzoom/

it does seem to have a little issue in the opera browser but that could probably decently easily be fixed with a little javascript manipulation. It works it just centers it on the webpage instead of on the screen.

Thanks guys..

That's the sort of thing i've got in mind Midpipps but your link mentions zooming the images. On my website the little thumbnails are actually linked to a larger image. Would that still work or would I have to remove all my smaller thums and replace them with the larger images so that they could then be zoomed?

Downloading the package now will have to get back to you on that on how he is actually pulling it off. If nothing else a javascript for what you are looking for would not be too hard to write truthfully.
