sandforce SSD keeps dropping out and having to be hard rebooted

Microcenter 64GB Sandforce G2 1222 SSD keeps dropping and having to be hard rebooted

it is my boot drive, so the entire computer reboots and when it does it does not see the SSD, however if I turn off the power and then reboot the drive will work just fine

it reboots like this around 1 or 2 times each day, usually I notice it first thing in the morning when I try to wake up the computer

also I made the mistake of setting it up to run in IDE mode instead of AHCI or RAID

From what I've read you can still switch it to AHCI without reformatting or anything. Here's a link to TwoCables's post about it (that driver at the bottom is for intel systems though, so don't think it'd work for your AMD system)

I'm sure someone with more experience can help you some more but just thought I'd give an attempt smile.gif

Sleep is not recommended with a sandforce drive.

AHCI mode is where you need to be for SSDs. This will result in better transfer rates and you wont have so many issues with drive drops. This problem is common if you are running an SSD in IDE mode. You would only run in RAID mode if you can configure an array and based on your sig rig, you dont have multiple same size drives for a RAID array. Also, the Sandforce controllers have an excellent report and I have two sandforce based SSDs with my GSkill SSDs in RAID 0.
