DSL Problems

Thread Starter
I have had my service for about a month and it was going fine, except that I couldn't get a wireless signal on my laptop unless it was 10ft. from the 2WIRE Modem/Router.

That wasn't a huge problem as I have direct connections available for the laptop.

But now at least 4-5 times a day, if not more, the Internet light will blink Red for 2-3 seconds, the internet will cut out for 15sec (and d/c me from my MMORPG) and then go back to normal.

It also has started acting all slugish, and I constantly get stupid dumb DNS errors or "This site cannot be found." I have tried changing to MANY different DNS servers and it does not fix it.

I have come to a conclusion that my Modem/Router, of 1-2 years age, is dying. As I can reset it by unplugging it and plugging it back in the power cord, and it will be fine for awhile.

I am not a network type person, so I could be completely wrong, can you give me any ideas please?

Common issue with 2Wire routers. This is why I despise DSL. Unless you have an SDSL line, you will likely have these issues consistently. ATT used these lots and had all kinds of issues with their setups as a result.

I get this problem on Verizon, here.
Line drops out 2-3 times a day generally, and I'm using a Cisco 3660 router with WIC-1ADSL.

I called Verizon about it and the only response is "We not trained Cisco, it you problem".
Since you're using 'official' equipment you might be able to call them..

You have poor signal from the Remote Terminal To Your Home. They need to slow down your speed or cut your over all loop length
