My friend is getting CFX HD 6950, but should he get i7 950 for the 16x16 or just wait for 2600k and nvm the 8x8?

People are claiming that running 8x8 in SLI on the new SB mobos will see just a few FPS decrease. With the SB you apparently get a chip that is capable at O/C'ing much higher and it's already (apparently) 2-10% higher. If all this is true then go with Sandy Bridge if it's a new system build. I think either a 950 or 2600K would be great.
