i7-2600k Overckocking

The OC results for this chip are looking very impressive. What other components would I need to push this to 5Ghz? Water cooling? High-speed RAM? (I already have DDR3-1600)

i think the 5ghz run was on air. So really all you would need is a beefy cooler and you are set. Intel went troll mode and thus FSB overclocking is no longer possible, thus overclocking wont affect memory as much anymore.

edit: and i think that run was cherry picked too, so a really good air cooler should see anywhere from 4.5-4.8ghz easily. Golden batches should see record breaking suicide runs.

All depends on the chip you get. 4.8Ghz seems to be my wall. Everything after needs a asinine amount of voltage.

How does memory OC work now? If there is any. I believe I see some boards boasting 2200 Mhz(O.C.) unless you just buy the RAM at that speed pop it in and it runs at the speed?
