YOU STILL MISS MY POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying that what is referred to as a silencer does not exist.

I AM SAYING that the term SILENCER is incorrect. I don't care how wide spread its usage may be. It is still wrong.

WOW.

do you really think that if i were to say the ninja silently made his way across the room? That the ninja made no sound at all? If so, you are wrong, because regardless of how silent you are, you make sound in a step, or moving, or breathing, just because you dont hear it at a distance or at all for that matter, doesnt mean that it was void of sound entirely.

i can sneak into my computer room and to me i didnt make a sound, but my hedgehog hears me coming. According to your definition i wasnt silent.

Meh thats a bit of a side argument to make, as the vantage point of the sound would be from a third person rather than first person in the case of suppressors. Regardless, your example shows more of a loose affiliation with proper word choice than it does any real point...

And correct, you were not silent to your hedgehog. Don't quite understand your point there?

Really? But what about in your original post, where you said that there is no such thing as a silencer?

Silencer = something designed to reduce the noise emitted by something, not to make something completely silent. Look it up. YOU are the one using improper terminology, not everyone else. Again, as I said, you're arguing semantics based on the literal definition of pieces of a word, and not the actual definition of the word itself.

Thank you, by this definition any SUPPRESSOR CANNOT BE CATEGORIZED by "silencer".

They emit VERY LOUD noises.

And, going back to my main point... In real life scenarios there is no such thing as a "silencer" only a "suppressor" mislabeled as such.

There are totally silent weapons their just not what most people consider a gun
take a magnetic rail gun, no sound from the gun and the speed of the projectile can be adjusted to remove the sonic boom affect
and since some people want to get technical, a sniper rifle is not a gun, it is a rifle or a weapon (This is my weapon, this is my gun, this ones for killing, this ones for fun)
A side arm (aka pistol) is referred to as a gun or hand gun

A muzzle brake is used to suppress the climb of the weapons muzzle when fired

A flash suppressor is used to conceal the flash of a weapon at night

A silencer is used to reduce the noise emitted by the fired round
Disc brakes use a silencer, air controlled windshield wipers in a truck use a silencer

it may not be accurate terminology but it is what they are called, when you invent something you get to name it.

As for accuracy when performing rapid fire, solders are taught to use 3 round bursts not spray and pray, this is why most modern assault rifles are selective/3 round burst vs. selective/ full auto i.e. M16A1 vs. M16A2 vs. M-4

Now for full auto nothing beats belt fed

Do some research, there is plenty of information out there.

No. Silencer is the proper term. Just because it has the word silence in it doesn't change what it means. Get a dictionary before making statements like that next time.
