Does SSDs in RAID 0 offer any real world advantages?

Thread Starter
Does putting two or more SSDs (SF1200 for example) offer any real world advantages over a single SF drive? I know benchmarks will be more impressive in RAID 0 and the seq read/writes will be much faster but will the diffeence be noticeable given that SSDs are so dang fast already?

Like you already said... sequential read/writes.

Some game load times might improve slightly.... but that's about it for common desktop tasks.
Once again...

Not for day to day use.
only advantage is moving huge files (think video editing but then u buy raid cards and mechanical drives) then speed is crucial otherwise, nope.

Next ssd I go single and I run 2 raid0 atm.
sata6 ssd drives adds sekvential speeds up to 500mb.

Coming from someone who went from 1 Vertex 120GB to two Vertex 120GB in RAID 0

Not really. Windows booted up maybe a couple seconds faster, at most

Biggest benefits I found were games with large load times (crysis, BF BC2) and video work (recording with fraps and rendering long, HD movies were much faster

Other than that, I wish I got a 250GB SSD instead... I had one drive freak out on me and had to reformat my OS, lost a lot of data as I hadn't backed up in almost a week

Text documents and calculator open amazingly fast! All for $500+! smile.gif

I'd imagine some insane boot speed, and games loading uber quick though.
