Crossfire 5770's to?

Thread Starter
Well in the future I am thinking about upgrading from my duel 5770's. I do not no what I should buy.

Should I just buy the 6950 or the 6970? or the 5850 or 5870. i was thinking about the 6950 how does that sound?

my psu is 850w so that's not a problem. i have i7 930 3.36ghz if that matters.

but i am leaning towards the 6950 for 300$, is that good? or should i get a different one.

if i do get the 6950 is it future proof? and is it better than my cards now.

The 6950 is a really good deal for what it is - has 2GB of VRAM, scales very well in Crossfire, and isn't that much slower than a GTX480/570. Considering you are coming from a couple of 5770's, at the very least, you will notice a significant increase in minimum fps, which should provide a smoother gameplay experience. The fact that this $300 card can be easily flashed to a 6970 for free (assuming it can be stable at 6970 clocks) just makes it that much sweeter.

Depending on your resolution and personal standards for gameplay and image quality, this can be a great upgrade.

I'd go with either the 6950 or the GTX 570.

Ok I am going with the 6950 then. One last question, is the 6950 better than the 5870 and 5850? and 6870 and 6850.

What kind of gambing do you do? 5770s seem close to 5870 performance I think.

Hi,

The two 5770s you have are equal and in a few areas slightly better
than a 5870.
The 5870 is a strong card.

If going to 2 6950s or 70s would be a whole different story.
My 5770s play everything out there I run at high settings.

If going to upgrade make it worth while, cost to performance wise.

JMHO

Well I downloaded GTA IV earlier and put everything to very high and the fps was like average 40 outside. Does that seem right? and would you consider that good?

Now thats pretty low to be honest , 60fps is smooth motion ..40fps will have page tearing and the gameplay would just be pretty average . Get a 6950 and unlock it , thats on par with a gtx 570 and costs less .
