again, if applications don't support up to 1000 cores = useless

That sounds so...... over 9000.
Can't wait for the day where we actually have 1k core CPUs and applications are optimized for them.

Since when was the Core i series obsolete?
Last I checked, no x86 processors are faster.

Maybe if you go the latest facilities of Intel you will se how well advanced they are right now.
Not to start a flame war, but this stuff is not ready for prime time.

Why not start with 12 or 16 cores, they haven't even mastered that yet?

If intel has technology today to create a processor that leaves a 1000 core processor in the dust, why are they pushing 6-core as their top of the line processor?

They may have technology that allows them to possibly get there some day, but don't kid yourself that this is somehow technology just waiting.

Everyone has science experiments, but what becomes product can be very different.

1000 / 20 = 50
50 cores =/= 4 cores?
That would mean they have 240MHz per core if it's a 3GHz Quad they are comparing against if this was the spec.

LightPeak isn't designed to replace just SATA... it is designed to replace all interfaces as it can tunnel other protocols.
Once again...
