If intel has technology today to create a processor that leaves a 1000 core processor in the dust, why are they pushing 6-core as their top of the line processor?

They may have technology that allows them to possibly get there some day, but don't kid yourself that this is somehow technology just waiting.

Everyone has science experiments, but what becomes product can be very different.
Same reason AMD could make something way faster then the i990x but we wouldn't be able to afford it.

And Sandy Bridge, for all of the hype, it's just a cheezy, obsolete Core i series reheat - and has weak clock speeds just to make it look even sadder...
u mad?
as much as i detest intel you are wrong! Core ix is by no means 'obsolete'!
if you say that then AMD's phenom II CPUs are obsolete too. K10.5 is basically the K10 arch on roids.
and clock speeds are irelevent. back in the day one of intel's Penticrap 4 was clocked at 3.6Ghz, while AMD's Athlon 64s were clocked at 2.6Ghz (iirc) and it still raped it. Athlons were more powerful clock for clock its ALL ABOUT THE ARCH!
here read up on sandy balls -i mean bridge
lol
but i do agree that GMA is a load of crap. its the whole reason i will only accept a AMD vision based laptop.

even core 2 isnt obsolete imo. the high end C2Qs are still powerful even tho it only supports DDR2

dont care.
have you noticed that the xbox 360 has THREE cores? PS3 has how many threads? i for got how many but its more than 2!
most modern games run best with 3 or 4 cores.
try playing BC2 with a dual core and then with a tri core and the results will be signifigantly better with the tri core.
you fail.

I was being highly sarcastic. I am in the process of editing approximately ~500 hours of home video and am an avid folder, I completely understand the uses for something this over the top. I find it funny that alot on here seem to think gaming is the top thing people do with computers, when it not even close, or probably even in the top 10. To be fair though, neither is video editing or folding or any number of other tasks that would require this kind of processing power. That doesn't mean that there is no uses though, their are plenty and people could use a properly made 1,000 core CPU.

20x? That's AMD talk, let intel build it and it'll have 2000 threads and be 600x faster.
