I guess I will be able to play it at a decent frame rate.I only run @1920x1080 .I am going to test it out on Crysis now .I sold my Zalman'd 470 to a Girl for $200.I think she got a wicked deal.

You got a new card for a game that hasn't even been released yet? Sorry, that sounded harsh, but I don't understand the logic.

Anyhoo, as was stated, you wouldn't see much of an improvement anyway when comparing the OC'd 470 to the stock 570, since the 570 is mainly just a higher-clocked 470-based card with a bit more RAM. But the fact that it still beats your OC'd 470 is important. You'll just need more volts to OC the thing to where it's yielding large gains over your 470.

Did you see staryoshi's thread on the 570 vs. 470 comparison here: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/895590-gtx470-vs-gtx570-comparison-more-content.html

Stock 570 vs. OC'd 470 is about the same, as expected. OC that 570 and you could see 25% gains.

You're right ,Guy .That does sound silly .I do still play both original Crysis games ,and am looking forward to the new version. Overall ,it is a nice piece of hardware.I am not a massive gamer ,I just like technology! If I did not have 3 kids ,I may have sprung for dual 580's ! But For Christmas , my Son got an IPAD(32GB) ,My oldest daughter a Macbook Pro, and my Youngest Daughter ,a Sony Vaio Core I3,Blu-Ray Notebook. Ouch!! I will be in pain for the next 6 months from that!!

Thank you Capt.Piccard !!! I most definitely will. It will fit the 570 though? ,as I do not see it listed .I understand it is a somewhat universal cooler. The Zalman was soo amazing, but it just took up too much space. There was no way for me to ever SLI with those things installed.

The Arctic cooling one works for the 570. You have to order VR004 with it. smile.gif

Good luck with your OC OP, if you can get it to 900, then you should see the gains, and that girl scored!

I was going to post the same link biggrin.gif

CFC the 570 is not much faster than the 470 at all when you discount the exorbitant Vantage score (I still say NV is cheating on that one) the 5xx series cards get.

I won't say you wasted your money, because it's a considerably quieter card and should (eventually) OC to quite a bit higher clocks ... which should put at least some distance between it and a 470.

A lot of people way underestimate the 470 cause of the benchies on the web that are run at stock settings, but the 470 is the most underclocked card of all time out of the box. Mine will do 850 core (with a hefty voltage bump), which is like a 40% OC, and the OC scaling is awesome on these things ... usually get around a solid 30-33% perf boost from that core OC.

My $500 Max OC'd 470's can pull within 15% of a $1000 pair of GTX580's at stock clocks on anything out there as long as vram usage isn't exorbitant e.g. at extreme resolutions (or in Vantage rolleyes.gif).

Who cares? How does it perform in games, that is what is important.

Either way, going from a gtx470 to a gtx570 isn't a huge upgrade, just moderate.

Read my comparison article for GTX470 vs GTX570 benchmark data:
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/895590-gtx470-vs-gtx570-comparison.html

The GTX470 has plenty of life left in it.

Thank you everyone for your input . I really appreciate it. In the end , I am kind of phsyced about my new card . It is a fine piece of hardware. I figure with some time and a few driver updates ,I should be humming along just fine. But that 470 was a little beast.Anyone who has one ,I highly recommend getting the Zalman Green 3000F cooler. It was absolutely amazing. I really hope they make an Identical product for the 570. The arctic one looks good , but the Zalman Heatsinc made contact with every single chip on the card .The arctic is more generic. Zotac makes one with it already installed (Black) ,but I have heard they have the absolute worst customer service on the planet.
