Are the Logitech Z-5500 worth it?

Hey,

So I'm getting so much stuff for Christmas:

- Silverstone Raven RV02-WB
- Vertex 2E 120Gb (Might go lower and do 80Gb instead)
- Mushkin Redline 120Gb
- GTX460 Physx/F@H

And I was wondering if I should lower the SSD and get the Z-5500's.

Currently got an Auzentech X-Fi Bravura with a Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker set, would the change be worth it to pay 252€ for brand new set of Z-5500's? or should I just go buy the 120Gb vertex and keep the new RAM too?

i have the Z-5500 and they are great!! But you have to watch out for faulty wiring. I got a control panel with faulty wiring and im sending it back free of charge and they will give me a new one. Stuff happens. I would say get it!! Just because i got one with faulty wiring it dosent mean yours will have faulty wiring. Im packing it right now as we speak

Don't get Z5500's! really, Logitech speakers are terribad. and Yes, I've heard them. Terribad for the price. Depending on ya room size, you're more than likely better off with a quality 2.1.

Personally, I will always go for a higher-quality 2.1 setup rather than a cheaper 5.1.

EDIT: Music is recorded in stereo and while surround sound is nice for movies occasionally, to me it's not worth the extra cost.

this x1000, although i'd even settle for a nice 2.0, especially if it's a bedroom yuo dont need a sub really, but that's just my opinion

quality > quantity

and anything logitech is not quality

for ~$300, i'd get a pair of active speakers like the krk rp5g2 or mackie mr5, now that's quality

Well I currently got Logitech X-540 5.1 which don't look bad.

In my opinion you would definitely be better off with a high quality 2.1 set up.
Logitech make very good low to mid end sound setups but for high end they really suck.
For £200 to £300 there are alot of better setups out there.

Guys, I'm not looking for new setup.

I just have 700€ and I thought, hey, instead of new RAM + 460 for Physx, I could buy a set of Z-5500's, coz they look cool, but then I thought again...

And honestly, my current speakers are good enough for my use..

I think I'll just stay like I am then.

You really ride the bandwagon don't you? Logitech makes excellent mice and game controllers.

Logitech make some really nice sets. Their Z2300 and Z5500 are really nice speakers. However, the main issue is that they are over priced.
