ati 5870 safe overclocking temps ?

hello

im overclocking my 5870 im at
1.2v on the card starts at 1.175v
900mhz core
1300mhz memory
load 85c
testing is done with msi KOMBUSTER
fan set on 40%

would you guys call these settings and temps safe for 24/7 use or should i drop the clock back ?

and how long should i test the card for ?

they are fine,i think the max. temps for that card are like 115c.

I wouldnt leave it running that hot for long periods of time , 85c is hot and im not sure the maximum of those 45nm chips but in my opinion 80c is maximum ..

Whys it running so hot ? thought of getting a new cooler

edit : these can run at 115c ? wow didnt know this . i still wouldnt go over 80c to ensure the lifespan of my card .

My 5850 at 950/1350 never saw over 70c i dont know why urs is running that hot .

what i would do if i was u though,bump the fan up to about 60%,that will lower the temps abit.

hmmmmmm ill drop it back a small bit and see with 45% fan load is 81c but its to loud for my taste

5870s are really fine to be running at ~90C. However, my temps need to be around 65C to be stable at anything past 980 core.

Thats bad advise imo , i wouldnt run the card over 80c . 100+ i assure you will damage something . 85c after 20 mins of kombuster is fine though .

mine run fine at 85c and up to 95c,but i would not recommend running your card at 100c or up.

i see mine cant go over 900 core or 1300 memory
i turned it down a bit to 885core 1280memory
