Hi, just got a card and i need to do a repair on it.
seems to be missing a component on the bottom of the board, however I dont even know what this is called, or where I can get one from...
its the c1037 bit thats missing, i assume its the same as the c985 bit.
any help appreciated

That there is a surface mount capacitor. What is the card make and model?

Just to let you know, even if you can find a replacement it looks like the cap blew, so there could be damage to chips.

I was hoping to have a junk one laying around but my pcb layout isnt the same (it's an XFX but it should be a reference design. IDK why it is different).

Anyways, what I would recommend doing is desoldering C967 as it *should* be the same as C1037 (based solely upon the fact that it is filtering the same memory chip).

Now, if you have a multimeter that measures capacitance, just set your multimeter accordingly and put a lead on each end of the capacitor.

Then you will know what type of surface mount cap to order.

Soldering may be a little tricky.

is an excellent guide.

I hope that gets you up and running.
