Is the manufacturing date important?

Hello!

I went to a store and bought a caviar blue 500gb hdd and it was manufactured in June. Later i went to another store and they have the same drive but manufactured in October. The hdds also had different model names endings. One was aaks DH and the other was aaks SY.

Is a drive better in any way if it is made later, compared to another? Are these model endings important?

I really dont know if I should return the June one and get the October drive!

In essence they're the same drive. A lot of the newer models might have a newer firmware version on the newer drive, but the older drive can have it's newer firmware flashed.

Occasionally, a new controller might be utilized.

In essence, I wouldn't be too worried about swapping your June drive for the October drive.
