Yate Loons are low quality at Petras..? - Page 2

Well it seems everyone recently revised Yate Specs on their product pages to say 10% Deviation.

By chance is the Yate from 2010? (Signified by a number on the sticker being 10**)

I have a feeling that some of the 2010 Yates are different in some way though I don't have the $$ to Time to check that right now.
It seems to be the case though.

Hi Tator Tot,
Yes, I mentioned that in the first post.
1st and second batch (two different sources): 1002
3rd batch (Petra): 1008

The 10% should a be a deviation error, which is fine. However it seems to be the standard..

I was just about to order seven of the high speed yates from Petra's until I came along this post. Can you tell a difference in sound at 2000rpm from the different batches? I've read that Jab-Tech's were nosier then the Petra's, but for me there's a $12(for 7) difference between the two companies so naturally I would want to save some money if there is no difference in sound.

Thanks

To be honest, no I cant really seem to notice the difference. Then again, I'm only using my ear for that. I dont have proper tools to test that exactly

Ok, I had to get this over with and ordered seven high speed yates from Petra's. When I get them I'm curious to see the rpm's I will get off of my mobo fan header and off of my Rheobus-Extreme.

Yes, it seems that 2010 models are performing worse than previous years. The only assumption I can make is that Yate is producing more fans than ever so not as much diligence is put into every fan for the tighter quality control.

Your ear is the best tool

Unless you spend $$$$$ into sound recording equipment and a noise isolation chamber, you're not going to find a better tool.

Yeah 4 of the Yate's I got for my round-up had leaking from the bearing already (when I pealed the sticker off their was oil seepage.) Though my Petra's and DangerDen did not have that for sure, I think Sidewinders and NCIX were the others that did not. Though NCIX was one of the worst performing.
