Folding Error & upload issue

Thread Starter
I have two issues. I have folded over 50 WU's on my new machine and when I left to go home for 10 days I left folding on. I came hold a day early and found this in my log
"19:27:40] CoreStatus = C0000005 (-1073741819)
[19:27:40] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0xc0000005"
it was the only time it happened and it happened on the ninth day at 82% into a 6701 unit. Seeing as it is the first time and it only happened once in a nine day straight folding period should I even bother to mess with anything or should I just take that unit as a loss and move on?

The second issue I have is uploading. When it uploads it pulls all my bandwidth and kills my connection. I don't really care but the other people I share the connection with do and for instance if my roommate is in a fleet battle in EVE he needs his connection to shoot people.....like I care but seriously is there a way to limit the upload so it doesn't take all of the bandwidth available?

Thanks,

That looks like a memory problem, but I wouldn't mess with settings unless it happens again.
Was this the longest you ever had it going without shutting it down?

As far as limiting the upload, no. There might be a program that can do that for you but not within the client.
And your roommate will lag regardless in that game if he is in a large fleet battle.

I believe the error you got is due to instable overclock, but someone else will confirm or deny with more information. It is possible for instabilities to show up much after the first day. It's hard to get a perfectly stable folding overlock, that's why I don't want to up my i7 cause I found a really good spot for voltage and clock@3.6 and I KNOW it's stable..

As far as the upload it's just part of the process, you could just plug in your internet when you're ready to upload as it doesn't need internet to actually fold, but then you lose some of your bonus points and some folding time.

I've never heard of a way to limit the bandwidth within the folding client itself, but you can put the decoupler on so it can upload/download the same time (i know this isn't what you're asking but it'll lessen the amount of time you're using the network.., I will try to find the link for you tomorrow when I'm home if no one else has it in the mean time. I'm sure there are 3rd party apps that can do it, and or your router may have some options. Just remember if you limit it to 10kbs or something slow, it will take a LONG time to upload the finished WU, and download the next one which will also limit your bonuses and folding time..

Good Luck :-) Hopefully someone gives you a better answer..

I got that same error when oc'ing on my HTPC; I believe it is related to memory. I found the sweet spot, for me at least, was to down clock the ram from 1600 to 1333 and have faster timings instead. I read in other posts that AMD OC'ing does favour faster timings than faster speeds.
