X58 and 24GB of ram - Any boards better than others?

Thread Starter
Hi.. Long time lurker, first time poster.. I'm building a new system, already have an i7 970 on the way, but haven't settled on a board yet. The main criteria is that I want to run 24GB of ram in a very stable system. I've read about some issues with boards not recognizing all installed ram for one reason or another.. Are any of the decent X58 boards better than others for 24GB support?

The boards on my short list right now are the Asus P6X58D Premium and Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5, but I'm open to any suggestions. This system is going to be in a music studio hosting huge ram hogging sample libraries. It'll be running Win 7 Pro 64 bit and all 64 bit applications to take advantage of the ram.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks!
Michael

CPU has the IMC not board, so no.

I switched from PX58D-premium to UD5 I was very pleased.

Board still doens't make a difference. All RAM will be recognized if yuor seat the Cpu correctly and provide enough qpi/vtt voltage.
