Random USB Disconnects in Win7x64

Thread Starter
Hello,

Well I have been having this problem lately with my sig rig where I will have my keyboard or mouse randomly disconnect and then reconnect (USB disconnect and reconnect noise happens). It happens with both my wireless setup and my wired M+K setups. It only started say 3-4 months after building this rig and I ignored it as it was rare but now after adding a tablet for my drawing it does it to it too.

I am really lost on this one. I google'd the hell out of it with no luck. Even tried disabling USB suspend in the power options. Any ideas? I tried different USB ports with the same result.

It is not too frequent but it does bother me. It happens atleast once a day if not more.

Thanks in advance for the help! (Sorry its a bit long winded haha)
Cheers!

About 10 to 14 days ago i go to my pc in the morning and the lights of the keyboard were on but the little lcd screen was blank. Very odd i thought since the pc was shutdown. When i booted the pc it did do a windows update and i had no keyboard or mouse control. Even the ps/2 for K+M don't work and all of my USB ports are non responsive. I do get the lights of another wireless keyboard transmitter though. I have been told to reset everything on my mb and try that.
I am not sure which w7 64bit update it was. I am currently away from my pc and have not tried to fix the problem yet.
So, in short, yes i also have a problem with my USB ports after a windows update was done. But unlike your problem, my USB ports are completly dead. I may also have fried them by just using a posted oc setting.

I could not fix the problem. I removed the mb bat and waited 10 min. Then reset cmos, booted up but still no usb.
Guess i need to replace the mb or better yet upgrade.

This is possibly the same problem Microsoft had discovered in late October/November, so this may help. The initial complaints were due to network disconnects, but the problem is actually in the USB driver of Windows 7/Server 2008, so it can affect any USB connected device, including just the Generic USB Hub of your Mobo.

I noticed this same problem also with my mouse a few weeks ago. I switched to a different mouse a few days ago and it has not happened since.

Double post but its an update. (Semi-acceptable)

Fix seemed to work but it has gone back to disconnecting and reconnecting.
