If i were to get a gpu for laptop...

Alright, I found this laptop, its all nice and everything, however, it does not have a graphic card.
Now, I was just wondering, because the laptop originally came with 8800m gts card, but I can't find any on the market so would it be okay to get gtx8800m?

Also since this is a laptop card, would this be fine or I would have to get the card that is specially enterineered for the specific laptop?

Most graphics cards in laptops are soldered onto the motherboard, so i'm not really sure how the old graphics card was taken out. Upgrading or changing graphics cards in laptops is usually not an option

Does the laptop accept MXM cards? If so, which standard?

if the old card was removed im guessing it's probably MXM, which means upgrading is slightly more of an option.

yeah,you're right.

ummm... "most" implies "not all". the old card was removed, thus more than likely it's MXM, which may or may not be soldered. so, your statement is true, but it doesn't mean that the OP can't upgrade HIS gpu.

What is the exact model of the laptop you found?

Contact your source for the second card and find out the exact connector as well. Is it MXM 1, MXM 2, MXM 3, or MXM 3.0b.

There is a possibility that the gpu you are looking at is from asus in which case the MXM is reversed and will not work in most units.
