SLi and screen tearing

Thread Starter
does SLi contribute to screen tearing by any chance? I have my current set up running in my sig and i get terrible screen tear when i move things across the screen on windows or when i watch you tube.

check both gpu refresh rate and monitor refresh rate, both equal, tried hdmi cable and dvi to hdmi cable supplied with monitor.

I'm using sli hack and I seem to get no screen tearing when i disable sli.... so is this SLi hack that's causing it? or is it just SLI?

edit: did some more "testing" and it still does it about 1/4 of the screen with sli DISABLED

Is Vertical Sync enabled, or disabled? It sounds to me like it's disabled.

How do you have the monitor connected to the card? DVI, or VGA? I don't know if this makes a difference, so I'm just asking.

That's a weird error. SLI seems like a good suspect, perhaps a mismatch at how each graphics card processes the same tasks. But, I am not sure, do SLI'ed cards work together even on 2D?

Make sure your not exceeding the monitors maximum refresh rate, sounds like it's not a happy setup

yeah both gpu runs at 60hz right now matching the monitor.

it happens if i lets say expand, drag the corner of firefox and expand the size slow and fast, and if i move msn window at medium speed.

On what part of the windows does the tearing occur? I see what I think might be called tearing, but it doesn't happen at all inside of the windows, but more or less on the borders. But I don't know if this is actually tearing. I imagine what you're seeing happens through the entire window.

I have another question in addition to the one above: which driver are you using?
