Overclocking Asus Rampage III Extreme

Thread Starter
Hello All,

I've recently purchased an Asus Rampage III Extreme with the following components:

1x Intel i7 950 3.07GHz
6x Kingmax Hurcules Nano DDR3 2200MHz 2GB Ram
3x Gigabyte Radeon HD6870 1GB PCIe Graphics Cards

The issue I'm having is that the Asus board is supposed to have all these fancy overclocking features (ROG and the like) and the m/b specs say that the ram frequency of 2200MHz(OC) is supported, but the ram (by default) runs at 1066MHz and when I change the freq in the bios to 2133MHz or 2400MHz the system becomes unstable, the same goes if I OC the CPU.

Has anyone else had experience with this board (and perhaps these components)?

Thanks
Anubis

Youre going to bump up the voltage of the QPI/VTT and memory voltage for that.

Getting a stable overclock with 6 Dimms is always a hassle. What do you need the 12Gb of RAM for? It's overkill for gaming and you might want so sell half but if you're editing video or something keep them and try your best.
