I never even played SP in SC1 and just jumped into MP when I played that and actually had more fun in that then I had playing SC2.

My favorite race to play is Protoss followed by Zerg. That just might be why I don't like being forced into playing terran in SP.

Starcraft 2 is very fun when you get into it with your friends. 1v1 is what really counts though. Team battles are pretty unbalanced. 2v2 with a TP team wrecks anything. 3 rax marines + mass lots = OP.

If you are looking to play custom games, then I wouldn't recommend SC2 over WC3. WC3 had great custom maps.
