Four options 1 veiw drive assignmets

1. has both ssd's listed
2. press 2 and it just says
3. press 3 and it says same.
4. press that and I get: controller irq: 10
ACHI HBA MMIO base addres: FE6FFC00

Can anyone advise what i need to do to acccess comands in 2 and 3? Please its doing my swede in!

Secure erase both SSDs and make sure they are initialized. Make sure you have the latest update for your RAID BIOS. Had to do this when installing two GSkill SSDs for my sig rig on a similar board with the same utility. Need to update the AMD Option Rom Utility 2009 to the latest with an update available from AMD. If it is updated, then you just need to define the array. The computer needs to be cold booted after RAID settings are set in BIOS. Dont ask why I dont know, but wouldnt work for me til I cold booted it after setting RAID in BIOS. Then use the option ROM to define your array. After pressing 2 it will give you the message that there is no LD. Press enter on the open screen here and define your LD. Then assign the disks you want to the LD, and you have to press ctrl y to get the disks to initialize as a RAID array.

I lloked on various boaards and someomre said they sorted it by putting a really old bios on ! so i just put the original that came on the board, made no difference, i secure erased the 1st ssd that i had been using, the other arrived brand new today.

they both show when i press 1 in the option rom.

I havent a clue how to update The amd option rom thought it was just part of the whole bios. will look on amd site, now.

You say pres 2 and get the message no ld, then press enter on that screen and set LD.... At the moment thats the whole problem it wont go past the "there is no LD" Even pressing enter?

The other thing you say about initialised? One is brand new, the other secure erased with parted magic, they show on option rom, and in bios so is that initialised?

Thanks for ur post and time just popping to amd to see about newer Option Rom.

Hi Bodyshield I cant find AMD RAID BIOS download of any kind, just links lead to same things like RaidXpert, can u or someone please point me to a link where i can locate this?

Also I just attached two mechanical drives i get the same thing at the Option Rom, could that be corrupt?

Thanks,

Okay after getting to the Define LD screen. This guide will help... http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:Bf_dOwMUUt0J:download.asrock.com/manual/raid/870%2520Extreme3/English.pdf+amd+option+rom+utility&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESipyMEQf33ML3Dck2UFREW_dutBrEF9LPLPlASQkzAFHwpAJWvre_ZbQhfy2PHi1wBCaJ4VlWgNdmuElGnBfmqliT_1cgw1vx-7FVA6R66N7c7mfOEjsjVnp6JbokMqhPqp1Dg6&sig=AHIEtbQir03lF_wWJrmqe9QKtiiJcpmR3w

Just follow the link I know its long. This is a guide for RAID options in the ASROCK and ASUS motherboards... the process is the same as they both use AMD RAID option ROM utility. Basically on the define LD screen you want to create an LD under assignment number 1 as the first LD or logical disk array. This allows you to select the physical disks in the array and pair them. When the screen shows allowing you into define an LD, you press enter on LD 1. Change the RAID mode to whatever you want to use suggest RAID 0 for performance with those SSDs. Next you Select Y next to the drives you want in the array. After having done this, you will use the ctrl-y option to define the array and save the capacity for that array to the logical drive. In this instance, when creating logical arrays, you can have as many drives as you can support with your motherboard and define multiple arrays, or one large array linking numerous disks together to form one large logical disk (LD).

Think I did it correctly, fantastic speeds by the first look at atto probably be even better when the drives settle. Is anything to be gained by using the amd raidxpert utility please? Bloke on the ocz forum said it wouldnt be worth raiding the two drives I have without it?

Thanks,

Chris

Those test results look good and are about what to expect from a RAID SSD.
