Master Chief is right on other than that the HD598, as he stated, is a Sennheiser. Audio-Technica has . The ATH-M50s come highly recommended on Head-Fi.

I could also recommend the Grado series (SR125i is in the same price range but SR80i is probably the better value.) They sound amazing out of any source, especially if you listen to rock/folk/literally anything with a guitar.

That reminds me... I really want a new pair of Grados I traded up to Stax (electrostatic) but really there is nothing like the Grado sound.
