I wish that were true. But net neutrality is one of those things that country after country is follow suit with. China was one of the first as well as Australia to do this, if I am not mistaken.
As for my response directly related to the OP, this is what happens when the government decides everything you should do. In some sense china may need this kind of leadership because of its sheer size, but this seems somewhat ridiculous unless I am missing something. I really hope other countries don't "follow suit" with this.

Why? Because Asians live in a collective societies which is bad, to put it bluntly. Corporations and governments love this model since you can abuse and terminated uncomfortable individuals in the the name of greater good.

Really? Corporations and governments don't abuse Western, individual-centric societies too?

That said, I'm not surprised. China will continue to try to promote it's own technologies and companies, even if they are worse than the competition.

It is up to the WTO and other international organizations to try to get China to cut it out, which is unlikely.

Its harder than you think to rise up against opression. Its not like a, 'oh hey, I don't like the way this is going, Im not putting up with it anymore'. No disrespect for all of us living with some form of freedom, but I dont think we can truly understand their situation.
Hey, the tank man stood up against it, everybody else left him high and dry...

Is this a joke? How many of our people rose up against our government when we started imprisoning w/o trial and torturing at random?

With Obama backpeddling on net neutrality as fast as he can and the GOP likely to retake the senate, it won't be long before the same exact thing happens here, except it will all be OK because morons like you will buy anything as long as it has a right wing nationalist spin.
